Performing Spirituality vs Presence

Performing Spirituality vs Presence

How to Know When You've Truly Walked the Fires of Alchemy

There comes a moment on the path — often subtle, sometimes shattering — when you realize: your awakening is not about looking spiritual. It’s about becoming honest. It’s not about shining brighter than others. It’s about letting all of you be seen — even the cracked, grieving, unfinished parts.

In a world where spirituality has been commodified into aesthetics, performance, and curated personas, there is a quiet, sacred revolution happening:
Souls who have walked through the fire, and are no longer interested in looking the part.

They are the part.

This is for you, if you’ve felt disoriented, unseen, or disillusioned — if you’ve burned everything down and wondered why it still feels so quiet on the other side.

The Sign of True Alchemy

Alchemy is not tidy.
You don’t rearrange the furniture of your life and call it transformation.
You don’t paint over the trauma with “love and light” and call it healed.
You don’t manifest a new partner and bypass your abandonment wound.

True alchemy?
It burns the entire house of ego down.
It levels everything false.
And in the ashes, you begin to build a temple — one stone of truth at a time.
And no one may even see it.
But you’ll feel it — deep in your marrow.

Performance: The Illusion of Awakening

Performance is subtle. It wears mala beads, smudges the circle of friends, wears crystals, and buys singing bowls.  It speaks in platitudes. It quotes Rumi but refuses to sit with rage. It believes it is “further along” than others. It thinks grief is a vibration to fix rather than a sacred teacher to embrace.

Performance wants followers.
Presence wants truth.

Performance can look like:

  • Constantly needing to appear enlightened or "high vibe"

  • Using spiritual language to avoid uncomfortable emotions or conversations

  • Judging others as "less evolved"

  • Valuing aesthetics over authenticity (image over integration)

  • Skipping the shadow work to get to the glow

Presence: The Path of Embodied Truth

Presence is unglamorous.
It holds your own grief without rushing.
It speaks quietly when others shout.
It tells the truth when it costs something.
It walks away from illusion even when it's lonely.

Presence looks like:

  • Crying on the floor and still knowing you're sacred

  • Speaking truth even if it shakes your voice

  • Setting boundaries with love

  • Holding space for your own humanity and others’

  • Knowing that God is here — in the mundane, the broken, the ordinary

You know you’ve touched the truth when you stop needing to prove you're spiritual.

Your life becomes the offering.

How to Know You’ve Been Through the Fire

You may be walking the true path of spiritual alchemy if:

  • You’ve lost relationships because you stopped performing

  • You feel more alone — not because you’re broken, but because few are willing to go this deep

  • You’ve lost your appetite for superficial belonging

  • You’ve stopped seeking approval from spiritual teachers, communities, or systems

  • You feel more you than ever before — even if there’s less to show on the outside

Why So Few Can See You

In Evolutionary Astrology, we learn that approximately 80% of humanity is living in what’s called the Consensus State of Consciousness — a worldview shaped by external authorities, societal conditioning, and inherited beliefs. About 17% are in the Individuated State, breaking away, questioning the systems, reclaiming their path. Only a small fraction move into the Spiritual State — where the soul leads, and the illusion of separation dissolves.

So when you begin to cross over into the higher states…
When you stop performing and start embodying…
When your language shifts from opinion to presence…
you will be seen by fewer and fewer people.

And the deeper irony?

You won’t mind.
Because you’re no longer feeding off visibility — you’re rooted in truth.

Those still in Consensus can’t see the archetype you're becoming —
not because they’re wrong or bad — but because they haven’t walked the fire.

They are still dreaming the old dream.
And you… you’ve awakened into something else.

This is why the loneliness you feel is not a flaw.
It’s evidence of arrival.

A Sacred Invitation

If this speaks to you, you are not failing. You are freeing.
If you feel invisible, trust: the Soul sees.
If you’re exhausted, rest. But don’t retreat from your truth.

Let the world perform. You are here to embody.
